Who are we?

We are a passionate team of artists who wish to bring our creative visions to life. We focus on human made creativity and passion for storytelling.
Our studio is located in Ashland Oregon.

Founder / Director

Sav Skoviak

Turning his dreams into reality, Sav is passionately building the studio from the ground up. He started working on thicker than blood in 2022 and has been developing it since.
His queer and neurodivergent identities help push the passion into action with creating stories with those deep themes.

Producer / Showrunner

Amanda Esser

Being a storyteller at heart, Amanda strives to make voices heard and inspire the hearts of many. She joined Thicker Than Blood as a producer in 2025 and she puts passion into everything she does. As she continues producing and storyboarding, she hopes to make the world a little bit of a better place.

What made you start the studio?

Breaking into the industry is difficult, and with the current job market it can be very frustrating to figure out what to do. We started this studio because it keeps our passions flowing, even when the odds of the economy are against us. If we don't get hired to do what we want, why not just do it ourselves? What started as a passion project, opened the door to so much opportunity and we still have so far to go!

Is Thicker than Blood your only project?

While it may be our current project, our company does plan to spread out in smaller storytelling shorts in the future! The world that it is set in gives us vast opportunities to experiment.

How many people are on your team?

Right now we have over 45+ people on our team! We are still growing and hope to be able to fund our team in the future with a Kickstarter launch coming later this year!

Thicker than blood

What is it?

This animated series is a Gothic Fantasy, action, romance, that's aimed towards older teens and young adults. Each episode is estimated to be around 40 minutes when fully completed and there are 9 episodes in the first season. We are in the current stages of developing the pilot. Help us create this pilot by funding our Kickstarter!

Our logline

As class tensions rise due to a human obsession, Clyde and Vex must either find their purpose or be consumed by the all devouring empire.

Themes

The themes in this story heavily focus on the dehumanization that the queer and neurodivergent communities face but in an abstract world with werewolves and vampires, and many other fantasy creatures.
Our story follows the journey of a werewolf and vampire trying to survive an oppressive empire. Both from different backgrounds showing the two realities of the same kingdom.
Some other themes involve substance abuse, dehumanization, finding your purpose, and fighting for liberation.

Story Boarder

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 1 or 2 examples of your storyboard work

  • Some kind of experience working in a team (school, professional, etc.)

  • Must have a strong understanding of perspective, composition, and dynamic shots

  • Ability to board action scenes is a big bonus

  • Must be able to export boards in video format

  • Storyboard Pro/Toon Boom Harmony is a bonus

  • Must be able to draw complex characters on model and in a readable manner

Color Scripter

Qualifications & requirements

  • Minimum 1 or 2 examples of color scripting work

  • Some kind of experience working in a team (school, professional, etc.)

  • Must have a strong understanding of color theory

  • Must have a strong understanding of lighting and the way light interacts with the story

  • Must be able to communicate complex characters accurately to the show's style

3D Modeler Environment

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must have examples of work (website, portfolio, drive)

  • Some kind of experience working in a team (school, professional, etc.)

  • Must be able to model complex and detailed environments (exterior and interior)

  • Ability to do custom textures through substance painter or equivalent

  • Ability to work with foliage

  • Must have knowledge in using Blender

3d Modeler Characters

Qualifications & requirements

  • Must have examples of work (website, portfolio, drive)

  • Some kind of experience working in a team (school, professional, etc.)

  • Must be able to model detailed and complex characters

  • Must be able to provide efficient topology for rigging.

  • Must have strong understanding of anatomy

  • Ability to also rig models is a bonus

  • Ability to do custom textures through substance painter or equivalent

  • Must have knowledge in using Blender

  • Zbrush knowledge is a bonus

3D Character Model Rigger

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must have examples of work (website, portfolio, drive)

  • Some kind of experience working in a team (school, professional, etc.)

  • Must have a strong understanding of character bones and weight painting

  • Must be able to make rigs consistent and easy to understand for animators.

  • Must be able to create rigs for complex characters with complex faces and bodies

  • Must be able to explain and/or demonstrate rigs to the animators

  • Bonus but not required if you can animate as well

  • Must have knowledge in using Blender

Concept Artist

Qualifications & requirements

  • Have strong conceptual design skills and the ability to match styles

  • Have a strong understanding of digital painting

  • Must have solid knowledge of perspective and basic fundamentals

  • Have a good knowledge of gothic and alternative styles (Victorian gothic, punk, juggalo, whimsigoth, ect.)

  • Scenic and Character concept artists are needed. Huge bonus to those who can do both.

3D Animation Lead

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must have examples of work (website, portfolio, drive)

  • Must have at least 2-4 years of professional experience

  • Experience in leading a team is a bonus

  • Must have production experience with animating and/or rigging

  • Must be able to properly communicate between departments

  • Must be able to animate complex and dynamic characters

  • Must have knowledge in using Blender

3D Animator

Qualifications & requirements

  • Must have examples of work (website, portfolio, drive)

  • Some kind of experience working in a team (school, professional, etc.)

  • Must be able to animate complex and dynamic characters

  • Strong understanding of the principals of animation and story telling through action

  • Must have knowledge in using Blender
